Tessa Seymour, cello

Tessa Seymour, age 16, will be a student of Carter Brey at the Curtis Institute of Music in the fall of 2010. Currently, she is a scholarship student of Jean-Michel Fonteneau in the Preparatory Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She was a member of the Luna Trio, who performed on From the Top’s Radio Show in 2004. She made her televised Carnegie Hall debut in 2007. Tessa performed at the Beijing Conservatory of Music in China and has appeared as concerto soloist with the St. John’s Chamber Orchestra, the Modesto Symphony, and the Prometheus Symphony Orchestra, among others. She is a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. Additionally, Tessa has received first prizes in the American String Teacher’s Association Competition, Felix Khuner Concerto Competition, Pacific Musical Society Competition, and the Stewart Brady Competition. She recently performed at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for His Holiness, The Dalai Lama. Tessa won the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra’s 2007 Concerto Competition, which included a performance at Davies Symphony Hall. Tessa has studied at many distinguished summer programs including the Yellow Barn Festival, Walnut Hill’s Summer Chamber Music in France, and Morges Académie in Switzerland. In the summer of 2009, she attended the Verbier Festival Academy and won the Festival's "Prix Jean-Nicolas Firmenich de Violoncelle."  Tessa was also selected to compete in the Rostropovitch International Competition in Paris in October 2009.
